Now Sydney Pollack's DeadIt feels as if they're dropping like flies recently. First it was Anthony Minghella (who was his partner in Mirage Enterprises) just two months ago, and now it's Sydney Pollack. While he hadn't directed a good movie in more than twenty years, he seemed to have a lot of fun doing an excellent job acting in some great ones (Michael Clayton, Changing Lanes) and popping up on TV shows ("The Sopranos," "Will and Grace"). When he died, he was producing Stephen Daldry's The Reader, with Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes.
